Pupil Voice

yellow strip

Pupils are the most important people in the school so we believe they have a right to be part of many of the decisions that are made and that their views and ideas should always be listened to. The Pupil Council consists of two pupils from each year group who are elected by their peers. This group, called the School Council, meets once a month or more often when important issues arise. Form Representatives are elected by the pupils in their form and meet with the year representatives once a month in Year Council meetings to pass on ideas and views and to learn about decisions made in the School Council. They play a very important role in communicating all of the discussion in School Council to their forms and making sure that the voice of the pupils is heard in the Year Council meetings. Each class has a suggestion box and we have a dialogue board in one of our corridors. Pupils meet with Governors and members of staff and we play an active role in all of the Caerphilly initiatives including the Youth Forum and Funky Dragon. The last thing we want in Pontllanfraith are pupils who do not feel that their views are valued – they very definitely are.
