Languages Faculty
The Languages' Faculty at Pontllanfraith Comprehensive School comprises two departments - Welsh and Modern foreign Languages. There are currently four full time members of staff, and one other, who teaches a language and other subjects. The Welsh Department is based in I Block and MFL, that is Spanish and French, are taught in E Block. Although geographically we are somewhat separate, we work very closely together in terms of sharing ideas and good practice.
Every endeavour is made to create a positive environment where all our pupils are given an equal opportunity to achieve their potential in a calm, happy and productive atmosphere. Pupils are given varying situations throughout KS3 and KS4 in which to practice the four skill areas - speaking, listening, reading and writing. The high standards and expectations in the Languages Faculty are evident from the G.C.S.E results.
