G.C.S.E RESULTS FOR PONTLLANFRAITH COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL

Head Teacher Robert Davies said:

"We are pleased to announce that the performance of the school as a whole has broken previous records in all the key indicators, resulting in us achieving the best results ever.  The challenging targets set for the school and subject areas, in negotiation with the LEA have been bettered in all instances.  Students of all abilities performed to their very best, with an overall 98% pass rate and a significant percentage of students achieving their G.C.S.E's at the top A*/A grades.

This is a very proud day for the staff, the students and their parents.  The high standards achieved are a testimony to the dedication of the staff in their effective preparation of students for the exams, the hard work of the students and the support of of their parents.  Congratulations to all those involved in this magnificent achievement.  We wish out students every success for the future.  Congratulations also to our students who successfully achieved GCSE qualifications a year early and, in one instance, two years early"

AUTUMN TERM DATES 2010

HALF TERM begins  Monday October 25th

HALF TERM ends    Friday October 29th

TERM  ends           Friday December 17th

There will be an INSET day on Friday October 22nd and Tutor Review  days on Monday December 13th and Tuesday December 14th. Other INSET dates are to be arranged.

NEW CATERING ARRANGEMENTS FOR SEPTEMBER

From August 2010 we will have the services of a new catering company (Caerphilly Catering). Sample menus can be viewed via this link. By the end of September we will have a biometric cashless system in place so no money will be handled at the point of serving food. This will also mean that dinner tickets will no longer have to be collected by pupils prior to them going to the canteen. Pupils who pay for their meals will credit their account by inserting money in two designated machines.  If you go to 'Headteacher's Letters' on the Parents' Page you can call the menus that will be on offer under the heading SCHOOL MEALS.  There is also a sample menu and price list available on this page.

 ECO SCHOOL BRONZE AWARD

We are delighted to receive the Eco school bronze award.  This demonstrates that we have made a good start in improving the sustainability of the school.  We will now be working towards gaining the Silver Award.
