School Closures

The decision to close a school is not taken lightly, but we have to ensure the safety and well being of all pupils and staff. The Local Authority has a set policy for school closures and this has been adopted by our Governing Body.

If I decide to close the school due to inclement weather for Health and Safety reasons, a decision is normally made between 6.30 a.m. and 7.30 a.m. and information can be obtained from the Caerphilly County Borough Council website on www.caerphilly.gov.uk – click on the pink banner and go to School Closure updates

Olympics 2012 - Get set

Pontllanfraith Comprehensive School has been sucessful in becoming a 'get set network school'. We are fortunate to be able to use the official Olympics 2012 logo and have access to a number of resources about the Olympics

CLIC

CLIC is an online channel and printed zone offering information, news and advice for all young people aged 11 to 25 in Wales on a wide range of subjects and issues, including where to get support in your local area.

The focal point of CLIC is interactive websites which allow young people and organisations that work with them to upload articles, pictures, videos and themes and to publicise events and activities.

As an 'All Wales' project working with local counties in developing youth led websites, CLIC is overseen at regional levels by editorial groups who meet monthly and also by the National Editorial Group of young people who meet throughout the year on resedential week ends.

ECO SCHOOL BRONZE AWARD

We are delighted to receive the Eco school bronze award. This demonstrates that we have made a good start in improving the sustainability of the school. We will now be working towards gaining the Silver Award.
